Millions of people have had to cancel their holiday plans because of coronavirus, meaning that the tourism industry has also taken a massive hit.
We are slowly being allowed and encouraged to book holidays abroad as countries are starting to welcome back tourists. But at the same time, some of us don’t feel comfortable at the thought of travelling to another country - and this is completely understandable.
Everyone is still trying to figure out their new “normal” and doing what feels right for them.
What is a Staycation?
A staycation is when you holiday in your own country, it can even be time spent at home but with day trips out and about exploring your hometown. Because let’s be honest, we have a whole host of amazing places here in the UK which are calling out to be explored and enjoyed!
It's a great chance to the support the local economy, eating out at local cafes, bars or restaurants. If you are self catering then perhaps choose to shop at farm shops rather than doing your full shop at the supermarket.
Plus a good opportunity for checking out one of our lovely stockists and seeing our latest ranges! Feel free to pop us a message and ask for a Bomb stockist in you area because don’t forget - every purchase you make from a small or independent business, the owner does a happydance!
Be a Tourist in Your Own City
You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who have never taken the time to explore their own hometown. Now is the time to change that! Explore those historical sites and landmarks. See your city through fresh eyes.
Get around to those places you’ve never been and search for tours. Think food, history explorations, art!
Let’s go to the beach, each, let’s go get away
Live near the beach? If it’s not too busy and you can social distance, then pack up a picnic (make sure you clean up after yourself please, no litter bugs welcome here) and head to the seaside! Because some of the beaches here in the UK are just as good as the ones abroad, can’t say the same for the weather, but we have been blessed with the sun recently!
If your skin is feeling a bit prickly from the heat, I’d recommend using one of our Body Butters which are all Shea Butter based and perfect for keeping your skin hydrated and moisturised.
Plus if you’re wanting to fully commit and be a mermaid, then we have plenty of mermaid inspired products!
Allow for Relaxation Time
A staycation is the prime opportunity to steal some time for yourself and home in on that self-care! Sit in the garden, sleep in late, give yourself time to lounge on the sofa and read your favourite book (or the book you never quite finished!). Whatever it is that refreshes you, devote part of your staycation to it.
Perfect for this relaxation time is one our Tinned Candles - Blissful Rest. Nothing soothes your soul like lighting a candle and just having 5 minutes to yourself.
Go off the grid
One of the key elements for a perfect staycation is to disconnect. Turn off your phone and do a social media detox!
Head to the countryside and take a long walk! Make your very best effort to embrace the present moment and beautiful world we live in. Take in nature and time will suddenly start to slow down.
After a day of hiking make sure you treat your feet to our Dr Foot Refreshing Foot Scrub. A zingy and refreshing foot scrub made with moisturising Shea Butter and Sunflower oil. Also containing Black Pepper and Lemongrass essential oils to enliven and condition tired feet.
We hope you found some of these tips useful! Have a lovely staycation and remember to stay safe x
